The k-pump website says their "synthetic grease is specially formulated" for their pumps. This can't be true, right? What kind of grease can I buy for the pump that comes in more than 1/2 oz tubes?

I use white lithium grease from Home Depot or any auto supply. It's what NRS recommends for their pumps too. Lucas Oil Products 8oz. Lasts a lifetime and it's good for garage door openers too!

I've used sunscreen in a pinch (on the river and oring was sticking). It's not a long-term solution, but works fine to keep you going.

I tried high temperature bearing grease, and got a couple years out of it, was kind of gross to clean out, so I replaced that with white lithium grease for bicycles, but I have a tendency to just use what I have around. Seems to be working fine for me. Thanks for the Sunscreen idea, hope I don't need it, but good to know for a pinch.
