Could someone please walk me through the steps of making a foam bulkhead to take place of my jackson happy feet??? Im pretty new to the yakn scene and just dont have the know how to make one... Ive look online, but cant really find anything useful...

Hey, I remember seeing a thread about this same issue about a month ago. Other than that, I can't really be of much more help. Sorry.

Start with mini-cell foam. (From any kayak store)

Work out how you want your feet.

Cut foam so that your feet fit around it in the way you want.

Cut the other end of the foam so that it fits in the boat.

Glue in with 3M 77 glue.

Really there is no great secret to this. Just keep cutting bits off the foam till it feels comfortable. Preferably do this before you glue it in.

Happy Feet

You'll need:

3" thick minicell, about 1' by 1'.
drywall sure-form
thin bread knife (you best cutting tool)

To get the best possible shape, use your Happy Feet to cast a mold. Take out all the air, and jam it into the front of you boat, get in your boat with your planned paddling footwear. Suck all the air out of the Happy Feet and close the valve tight. Now you'll have your shape, trace it onto your foam, give yourself a bit of extra toward your body. The use the sure-form to create the desired shape. Have fun and don't make it too small. It's much easier to take foam off than to add it. Foam is money so don't mess-up or it will cost you.

I like a wood rasp to take shape the foam. This is the same tool olot of people use to grate hard cheese. The only other thing that hasn't been aid is that I wouldn't glue it in place until you've used it enough times to be sure you like it. In fact, I leave mine unglued so that I can have extra footroom and pull it out on ong flat water paddles.
