All,

I have several important news bullets for the Green Mountain Dam/Lower Blue area access:

First, the hours for the area below Green Mountain Dam are as follows:

Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday through Sunday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We will be posting new signs with these correct times.

Cars and gear behind the gate at 4:01 Monday through Thursday, or 7:01 Friday through Sunday are subject to tow, at the owner's expense. So, please give yourself plenty of time to retrieve your vehicle or other gear.

Next bit of news: next week, Monday the 9th and Tuesday the 10th, we will be running some tests at the power plant. Those tests will cause large fluctuations in our releases ranging anywhere from as low as 200 cfs to as high as almost 1000 cfs. Our testing will begin Monday at noon and run through Tuesday at 5 p.m. Please be careful. Such large fluctuating flows could be very difficult to navigate, or could catch people in or near the river by surprise. There will be no one in the area to warn recreators of changing flows. So, please forward this notice on to others who might be using the area on those two days.

Last news item: today, we ramp up releases again another 50 cfs. By tomorrow morning, flows in the Lower Blue will be around 484 cfs.

That is all the news I have today. Please give me a call, (970) 962-4326, or send an e-mail if you have questions or concerns.

Best,
Kara

may have to take off monday or tuesday!!!

what would be the result of being in front of a change of 800 cfs in a boat?? would you get maytagged? just pop up to the top? would it be a wall of water, tsunami style? or just a marked increase in the flow...

I've been wondering for awhile now, purely hypothetically? :D

edit to add: THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE UPDATES, KARA!!!! 8)

Actually, they're going to be ramping up and down very slowly, so it will probably be just a "marked increase in flow." But, I figure 'better safe than sorry' when doing the notificaitons.

And it's up to 525 cfs today because of the warm weather.
