im a newbie and im from texas. i have only done the mountain fork in broken bow OK and i had a blast and want to do more and bigger rivers. i think i have found a new addiction and need to know anything and everything about kayaks and whitewater kayaking. and where i can go thats close

Your first resource should be American Whitewater:

have good run descriptions.

You should do a search and see if there is any whitewater clubs in your area and join up.

Try and hook up with other paddlers that are more experienced and learn all they are willing to teach...if there is anywhere in your area to do so, take a course.

Try and find some used gear that is not too old, but not too expensive (beginners tend to lose gear)...

and good luck! Paddling is unbeliveably fun and fullfilling, but can be dangerous...

thanks. i am not aware of any clubs around here. most of my information comes from my dad but he quit paddling a little before i was born. thanks again
