My 11yr old carries his Jib on his head by resting the back brace on his forehead with his head inside the cockpit and the bow hanging down behind him. It works pretty well for him.

There was an old thread that got resurrected a couple of weeks ago that discussed making a backpack sling out of cam straps. Don't k now how to link an old thread but look a week ago in "boaters forum" for Tired of carrying your kayak on your shoulders or something like that.

one option, which adds a bit of weight in your boat...easy in a creeker, not so bueno for a playboat:
NRS Whitewater Kayak Sherpa at NRSweb.com

the other product was the 'Crawpack' ...search for that thread.
lightest option is prolly the 12' strap backpack loop with some sort of padding on the shoulders which is pictured in the above thread.

The pyranha back pack system works great for multi-day hikes into rivers. When properly adjusted you can hike all day in comfort with it.

I started searching out of curiosity and found out a couple things pretty quick- not everyone has a good opinion of the sherpa pack. the crawpack is no longer made. Salamander makes one too,

and here is a DIY in case you're handy with a sewing machine...
Homemade Kayak Carrying System
