I keep falling out of my boat

I started r2ing a 9.5' AIRE Tributary this year on class III, it only has one thwart and we're really having a hard time feeling stable in it. The best set up we've found is one person in the front left on one knee, with their back foot tucked under the thwart; and the other person sitting on the back right tube with their front foot under the thwart.

We've tried straddling the thwart but it feels weak, then both in the back but we flipped backwards on a big wave.

Is anyone else running this set up? Anyone tried adding a second thwart?

you should buy a second thwart imo or install foot cups and move your one thwart back so you can sit on the side tube with front foot in the foot cup and back foot bracing against the thwart.

It appears that boat only comes with one thwart so you definitely want to install a foot cup in front of the thwart for each paddler and then tuck the other foot/leg below you under the front of the thwart.
I added a second thwart to my 9.5
it also makes rigging day gear better imo
As mentioned, another thwart or foot cones is the answer.
Seen guys do front foot flat under the tube then kneeling with back foot in tube/floor straddling the thwart and use the back knee to press on the thwarts and create the friction in there feeling lol? Friend has a tiny tributary with just a center thwart but the tubes are so small it feels natural to be on back knee. Never done any hard or big water though just class 3 at medium flow and easy. But yeah two thwarts for the win
Get a bigger boat.
If you’re on a budget, here’s what you can do…because you have a lace in floor, you can run a strap around the floor in front of your thwart. You can use the strap to secure your front foot
your budget should not dictate your safety I don’t think? Buy another thwart and send the gnar
