Phil U, Tom, Ross and Uzi ran Halfmoon Creek near Leadville (between Massive and Elbert) a couple weeks ago. I elected to be a pussy and film/run shuttle. There were a few wood issues and the whitewater was primarily class 3. Very beautiful. Sounds like Phil was back up there yesterday so he should really be the one to write the TR.

Here's the video:

Nice vid, Logan. Paddled it yesterday at 40? less cfs. Still went fine but the bankfull level we had on the vid run was better. Yesterday the diurnal cycle was 150ish to 200ish. We put on early afternoon at the bottom of the cycle. Noticeably higher by the time we took off. Me, Ross, Joanne, Dena and Jenn from Breck. Awesome team. There is still a ton of wood in there. We had one up close and uncomfortably personal encounter with a strainer while Ross was probing. It ended well but was a reminder that a class 2 spot can become very dangerous when wood is in play. We need to spend some time in there with a chainsaw when the water comes down. When the run is all cleaned up, it is going to be a wonderful "new" run in the upper Ark valley. If anyone goes in there now, be extremely heads up. Most of the wood can be eddied out above etc but there are some bad spots. Some of the worst wood is actually in the meander sections where there is more current than you would expect and there are lots of blind corners. Love the run.
