All,
Green Mountain Reservoir releases to the lower Blue River are going up today.
Changes will step up in two increments of 70 cfs each. The first change began right after lunch. That brought the release up from about 250 cfs to 320 cfs. The second change will be around 6 p.m. this evening, June 21, and will bring the release up from 320 to 390 cfs. It will stay around 390 cfs until further notice.
The reason for the increase is that the Cameo water right call has been placed on the Colorado River. As a result, Green Mountain Reservoir is no longer in priority and is no longer storing water behind the dam.
Water levels at Green Mountain have been around 7928 feet for the past week, which is about 72% full. This is likely the highest the reservoir water elevation will get this year.
Additional information is available on our ECAO website (Reclamation: GP Area Offices) and on the Green Mountain Reservoir page (Current Data for Green Mountain Reservoir, CO). As always, please let me know if you have any related questions.
Best,
Kara
