The guage indicates the river is running at around 1280 cfs. I was on the river about a month ago at around 3000 and it was really fun with moderate challenges.

Here is my question... Is it even worth the time to gear up for 1200 cfs on the Arkansas through the gorge?

The gorge is pretty good pretty much all year long. 1200 is definately not as juicy as 3000 but it's still a decent level (class III/III+). It actually gets harder (IV/IV+) again once it gets below 600. (I've never actually run it that low, but that's what my raft guide buddies tell me)

The Gorge is always a good time, but if you're expecting what you saw at 3000, you will be way disappointed. I've done it down to 450 and it's still worth the drive from Denver for me. I'm sure for rafts it climbs back into IV territory, but other than the hole in Sunshine getting stickier, it just gets easier for kayakers.
