What is a good kayak specific magazine? With whitewater, not sea kayaking.

The other two would be Kayak Session from Europe (pricey), and the LVM 'zine (by definition not really a true magazine). Kayak Magazine stepped it up last issue, with the Expedition Special. I wish they always had that type of focus...that issue was sick.

Kayak Magazine is awesome but it only comes out twice a year (unless it's recently changed). Not nearly enough for me.

No one mentioned American Whitewater. You join for $25 (has it gone up) and in addition to supporting our rivers and access you get a decent mag every other month. It does not usually have the picture quality of the commercial mags, but it is usually a good read.

Any one who isn't willing to shell out for this is either really broke or just a cheap ass.

My vote is for American Whitewater Journal. Its $35 now. But this is a hardworking conservation group. The articles are grass roots by that I mean that most articles are well written by non professional writers, some of whom Ive met on the river (and I paddle only 50 days per year). Many articles are related to creeking, river running, exploring, safety and zdrags; and little or no playboating articles that I can remember. Focus is on waters in this hemisphere where the average guy or gal can travel to; as opposed to rivers in Africa, europe, etc.

Ditto above. The AWWA Journal is great as it Kayak Magazine.

There are also a bunch of really good online magazines/blogs around. I like the non-commerical ones the best, like:

and the AW journal has always been great!

The pics in kayak session are super sweet too, but the mag is a lil pricey.
