Well, let's see, how do I put this...

I am looking to get input from the big and tall crowd about where they get splash gear. I have a couple family members who love boating with us, but sometimes splash gear is a necessity and sometimes it just makes for a more enjoyable float. The problem I'm facing is that we can't seem to come up with any gear that will fit them. They are in the 275lb + range, fyi.

I've looked around the web for the largest splash jackets and pants I can find, but it seems there isn't really anything above the XXL size, and that varies by manufacturer. We tried a Columbia brand splash jacket in XXL because they typically offer larger sizing than a glamour brand like North Face. However, while it would go on, it was really tight and would not be usable because of the motion restriction it caused.

So...I'm sure that someone out here has run into a similar problem, or has seen that rare 4XL splash jacket made by XYZ manufacturing...right?

Please, if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Couple suggestions. NRS has some splash gear in 3XL sizes. They may even have some 4 XL stuff. You could give them a call.
Another good resource is Kayak Academy. They are located in the Seattle area. They are super nice and knowledgable about all things related to watersports outer wear. They may be able to give you ideas on brands to look at. I know some of the Kokatat jackets come in 4 XL.

NRS, Kokatat, Immersion Research, and BomberGear, and LevelSix all have Men's size XXL in most of their gear, from splash to dry gear.

The downside is you'll have a hard time finding the XXL sizes in shops. Last month I called around to all the instate shops and checked with several bigger online shops for an XXL top (in all four brands noted) and no one had them in stock. Fortunately you can order direct.

I'm 6'3" and weigh between 250-260. I've been using a IR drytop in size XXL and it fits me great with plenty of space for layering, extra room in the shoulders and good length. Their XXL layering tops (thick skin, thin skin) are all too big for me so I use the XL size that fits great. Their shorts are generous in the measurements. I bought some size 40 shorts and they fit more like a 42 or bigger.

so i'm 6'4, about 280. i've tried the 2xl in most of the major brands. i've discovered that immersion research's 2xl is the same size as a 3xl from nrs or koktat would be if they ever made them. not sure why they still show the size chart for the bigger sizes if they're never available.

i wear the i.r. comp jacket. it's the only top i've ever found that fits me well, and still has a little room for layers.
nrs does make a gxl in a few things. never tried one on, but take a look at it.
i feel your pain!! good luck to ya!!
