We have a GC trip this summer with a motor rig and a couple of people that want to kayak. It is a 12 day trip, so not in a huge rush, but I am worried about how the speeds will match up. If we want to stay relatively together will the kayakers be able to keep pace with the raft going at a normal speed or will the raft be waiting for the kayakers. I assume the kayakers will jump on the raft for the longer flat sections, but I just wanted to get any one's thoughts on how this will work out.

I know if the rowing trips I have done the kayaks are generally faster.

It is a lot about miles per day and the kayakers fitness level. Like 300 miles in like 16 days is like 18.75 miles/day. 300 in 12 is 25 miles/day. Chance of “over doing it” increases for sure.

The yaks need to paddle in the riffles, where as rafts and motors can just coast
