Fort Collins Riverpark Benefit Fiesta:
A Rio Grande Evening to Support the Fort Collins Downtown River Enhancement Project

Friends of the Poudre and the Downtown River Enhancement Project Fundraising Committee will host an evening of live music, food and beer, and auctions at the Rio Grande Restaurant at 149 W. Mountain Avenue on Sunday, May 22, 2005. The fundraising event, which will take place upstairs in the Rio Grande Ballroom, will benefit the construction and maintenance of the City of Fort Collins Downtown Riverpark.

An auction preview will open for the public at 5:00 pm, with music, food and drinks, and auctions beginning at 6:00 pm. Auction items will include outdoor and paddling equipment and clothing, local goods and services, and vacation prizes. New Belgium Brews will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, and local band The Atoll will set the mood with live music throughout the evening.

Tickets for the event are $20 per person and are available for purchase at The Mountain Shop, 632 S. Mason in Fort Collins, or online at www.themountainshop.com. All proceeds from evening’s events will help support the City of Fort Collins Downtown River Enhancement Project.

The riverpark, which will provide economic, environmental, and recreational benefits to the community, will sit just east of the North College Avenue Bridge over the Cache la Poudre River. This project is a part of the Downtown River Corridor Project identified by the City Of Fort Collins through public process. The Fort Collins project is one of more than ten riverpark projects of its kind undertaken in Colorado since 1995.

The project has made use of a unique private-public partnership with the City of Fort Collins. It has successfully brought together direction and/or funding from the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Friends of the Poudre, New Belgium Brewery, Ayres & Associates, Lidstone & Associates, the Larimer County Youth Conservation Corps, and many other businesses, organizations, and individuals toward a common goal.
