I'm taking my son, his girlfreind, and a friend on the Glen Canyon to Lee's Ferry float next week and I'm wondering about water quality. I use Sawyer Squeeze for all my backpacking drinking needs but I'm worried about all the contaminants from Powell that the filters won't remove. Should I try to pack enough drinking water on the back haul, or just filter the river water?

i usually bring enough water for drinking, you can cook/make coffee with raw river water as long as you bring it to a boil...

Colorado R water

Below Lee's Ferry but above the Little Colorado R the water is clear. It is a great trout fishery which tells you a lot about the water quality. I would not hesitate to drink it after going through a filter.
