Today I cruised down to Escalante to see how it was doing with these past couple warm days & it is definitely on the rise. The fin was sticking out quite a bit..equal probably to Southern Rockies Whitewater guide description of minimum. But it still probably saw the first run of the season. Bony & abusive on the boat but still possible in the gorge. The upper section definitely too low. If we get some rain as predicted with the warm weather it might come into the low level.

Anyone have any comments about using the gauge for robideau creek as a barometer for escalante? Robideau looks to drain similar elevation and aspects as escalante (its the next drainage south coming of the plateau). It also seems to have a similar watershed size.

I realize that there are likely diversions which could impact the gauge, but I thought that using the robideau to see if its on the rise could help fill in the gaps on escalante flows between visuals.

Just a thought.
