You'll pay half as much for moto sports pads as you will for paddling styles. They offer just as much protection, if not more. For less money. I like the Fox brand, but some of the others looked cool as well.
Do most elbow pads absorb a lot of water and feel more heavy when they get wet? These pads you suggested look like they're really heavy duty. I've never worn pads while kayaking, but these look like a bit of over kill? I need to buy a pair of pads, but the hits i've taken don't resemble the abuse of motorcross crashes.
If size is the main issue. Size down. They have pads at many different costs, sizes, and profiles. Find one that matchs the style of boating that interests you. A smaller lighter elbow pad will be made of less material, and will absorb less. If you want to keep them super dry- get a lite par- and wear them under your drytop.
