Looks like it works still for me. I am getting to it through the Colorado Kayak Supply website.

River Flows

Just checked and it is working fine; descriptions, flows, the works!

It's off and on. I imagine they don't make money with eddyflower.com as some would presume. If it's completely a cost center to the site owners, I can certainly see why they're not itching to get it fixed.

Granted, this many days down, even if it was my own personal pet project, I'd find new hosting. There's only about 9000 gagillion of them out there in the world.

Yeah, guys, is this the nail in the coffin for ef.com? Who the heck hosts your site? It went from working, to not, to semi working, to completely hacked. I'd highly advise against anyone even attempting to visit that site again until it's safe. Maybe one of the web archives has the pages to get the beta out of the runs. :(

A lot of people put a lot of time and effort into helping build the run description database... its a shame that its going the way of the dodo. Inside info points to other reasons its down than a simple server/hosting issue. Yesterday morning it was reported to be up then supposedly fed tons of porn popups and virus hits when actually attempting to access anything.

If the domain/site owners need/want, I'd be glad to find a home for it. It's so widely used. It's linked off of CKS. It's referred to by everyone, everywhere in the boating community. It's truly a shame what's happened to the site and now compromising potential visitors computers. No bueno. PM me if you work with eddyflower.com guys, I'd be happy to find a safe and stable solution to host the site.

Eddyflower is still getting blocked by Google as an attack site:

Reported Attack Page!

This web page at www.eddyflower.com has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Btw, I'm pretty sure eddyflower admin is gone on a sweet kayaking trip in AK. Just didn't want you to think he was blowing you off if you tried to contact him and got no response.

Got an e-mail from the site owner...

We are in the process of switching hosts hoping to have site back up soon. Hacker attacks have impacted some of our data.

Thanks for your support!

Cheers,
Paul Hemming

Just wanted to give an update. :)

Any latest news on EF?

I was on there a split second today when it was actually working and it looked like it was recovered from a backup or something from Verticle Challenge/late May time frame. It sure would be nice to get to those run descriptions. I mean American Whitewater and books are allright, but not as good as Eddy's. ;)

So when Eddy Flower was hacked how much of the user list, emails, member name and other private information was stolen?!

The x86/PC platform is the most targeted. - MAC/unix do not have that problem.

New Alternative Site

This site has most of the CO, ID, UT, AZ, MT, WA, and OR guages. You will probably have to add your own run or stretch and then plugin the guage. It has the ability to add your favorite runs. Looks like it is under Alpha release but has quite a few features with new data and features coming online daily.

I've had sites hosted on Unix and Linux servers hacked as well. It is more likely the host's fault not securing and updating their servers correctly than the platform.

Besides EF is programmed in .Net. It would have to be completely rebuilt to move to a Unix or Linux host.

If your unix or linux based servers were hacked then the systems administrator must have not known permissions sufficiently or the firewall was contributory. The entire concept of xlix-based servers is superior design and avoidance of malware and hacking by controlling file permissions on a file by file basis in combination with the user structure.

We still do not know what happened to the confidential user information on Eddy Flower.

If Eddy Flower were completely rebuilt in the move to unix/linux host it would be a move supported by all users whom would not have their information scammed all over the net due to a security breach in the Window$ platform.
All former Eddy Flower members whom gave up their names addresses email and phone number are now quite popular all over the internet to email scam and spam.
I feel violated. and not in a fun way...
