Two Kayakers Driving from Denver Area to Asheville NC, and WV on the Gauley....Want a ride!? We are leaving Oct. 3rd-16th ish. I will be driving a Honda civic...which means killer gas mileage. I get about 30 miles to the gallon, it will cost about $200 in total one way...split between 2 or 3 people. The Gauley is releasing 7 days a week this season! Responsd if your interested in getting a ride out there and or back! Cheap!

If you have room on the racks and no additional interest from kayakers heading that way, how about giving my remix a ride to Asheville/Gauley? I am flying down in November and a friend can meet you at some point during the trip to get my boat. Will pay a reasonable gas fee, but less than you'd split for a rider.

The Gauley wont be releasing 7 days a week, or at least what you might expect the release to be. During the weekdays when you are planning on being there there will be water, but it won't be much...the weekends will be big and bouncy though...3200 cfs...

October is Russell Fork season. Don't miss it if you are heading to the southeast! Great year for the southeast. Extended releases for both the Gauley and Russell Fork due to dam maintenance/inspection...Gauley until the first weeknd of November, Russel Fork all through November.

Perfect, I would do that for sure! I will go to Asheville first, and can take your boat. I have a kayak rack, and space. I am currently in Greeley, and will be leaving from Denver on Oct. 3rd. We could figure out a small price for gas!

If yall are taking colorado forest products. Be careful of staties or rangers. Just don't be sloppy with them. For extra caution you can stash in the woods near your campsite. Especially if you see rangers driving through campsites be prepared for being searched with dogs and task force if your vehicle has Colorado plates.
I think you can camp at upper gauley put in by the dam at least it was that way for gauley fest. If not there is a campsite a mile down the road from that put in that is 16 per site holds 8. Be safe have fun commercial guides are helpful for advice if no one has run before

Yeah, as we were putting on Sunday or Monday (mind is a little foggy) after the fest we heard there were vehicle searches at the upper Gauley put-in camp area. Looking through cars with no permission and such. Might have just been a Gauley Festival weekend thing though.
