I am a person who enjoys making their own gear and I am sure many of you others are as well! Let's see those homemade drop bags, drag bags, tables, utensil holders etc. DISCLAIMER: I am not a gear company looking to rip your designs etc, just a guy who has a sewing machine and likes sitting in front of it!

Here are a few items I have made lately. Don't have any pics of my drop bags or gear bags but will try and get some.

Go Pro mount. Two straps to the d rings and it is ready to go. Is rock solid and has a para cord safety to the go pro camera and a d ring in case of me screwing up. I'm sitting on a home made dry box, plywood.

Small one gallon hand wash station. I do a lot of 1-2 or 3 man trips so I made this one for those trips. It is 6"x 6" x 13" packed size. I have a large 4 gallon also but takes too much space for some trips. Containers are Lock n Lock brand.

Home made dry box

I "made" a aluminum dry box from this, holds my kitchen. Very splash proof, almost water tight, good enough for what I use it for. Hangs like
a canyon cooler on my frame

I got bids to have one made about this size and came out to $450 or more. Yes they were much better quality, but I have free time and very little money so...… For Under $200 I made this. Better than the plywood or rubber bucket one I made before.

Bear proofed dry boxes

I just bear proofed (IMHO) two of my old dry boxes for my cat. I will not have a sticker, but feel better knowing my gear/food is safer, as is the bear. Used 6061 aluminum 3" flat bar and 1 1/2" angle. about $30 per 40" box. Smith river, I'm ready for you now!

That is the way Sotar mounts seats to dry boxes if you want a seat. The box in the photos is the kitchen box which mounts in the front of my cat. You cat slide two seats on or just one as needed. The dry box I row from has two bars running the opposite direction for the oarsman seat (see attached photo) that can be adjusted forward or back to fit the current rower. I also have a mount that allows 3 in front or a set up for 2 in front 2 in back plus me. I like having family with me. I can and have done 4 day self support trips with 5 total in my 16 foot cat. A lot of work but fun.

That's just old drift boat seat rail, not a great way to do it on a raft in rougher water. Works fine in a drift boat. Can't believe they have gotten that prehistoric

Hey Greenwall, welcome back, we missed your BS
Its me. I did not draw but friend did and is paying me back for a smith invite.
Here is my mostly complete hand wash station, it was heavily based off Bighorns setup. Hoses were color coded to simplify setup for others.

Here is a link to a video of operation, it'll draw out to ~5 seconds if you don't pump as hard. https://photos.app.goo.gl/kFWMYW4exPrsAQMn8
Good move on color coding. I ended up writing descriptions on what goes where.

I have watched people walk up to where they were told to put the hand wash with two empty buckets or two full buckets and leave everything else on the side of the river.
Then carry one of the two full buckets back to dump in the river. That is the best reason to invite a newbie, It is sometimes very entertaining:Great job on the HW station.
Do a web search. but do not expect to find a cheaper one unless you can wait for a sale.

The whale pump is nice but you can get by with a fuel pump (I've found them for under $10 in the past).

I have made several hand wash stations this way, that the fuel pump has lasted for years on them.

Here you go!! Hope the link works $30, says in stock

I'm in the process of putting together a hand wash station. I got some buckets similar to this. They aren't free, but I liked the latching lid design.

Do they stack inside each other?
Have you tried to lift with 4 gallons or so in it. Saw a lot of reviews about broken handles. Love the concept
Never use rocks from near the river, they can and will explode

A solution without a real problem, maybe?

I never actually damaged any tent poles but also never felt great about putting my tent poles in a dry bag as I was always worried they would get bent in some over zealous rigging disaster. It's also inconvenient to pack them with the tent body because I tend to put the tent and fly in separate bags because I'm often packing up a wet fly where I boat, and I don't own any very long and skinny dry bags.

So I made a hard case for my tent poles using 3" ABS pipe with an end cap and a clean out. Put some scraps of foam in the ends for some protection for the shock chord.

I made something similar a year or so ago for my collapsible weiner roasting sticks to keep the boat safe from the pointy ends. View attachment 62460 View attachment 62461 View attachment 62462
I did the same thing for sand stake and river wing poles when I used them. Added some foot loops for strapping down
