Had a question for day one camping on Deso. Is Rock House Bottom a good camp these days? (mile 80) Also, I used to like that camp at mile 77.5 at the end Stampede Flat (had a big boulder at the edge of the river), but I hear there was a rock slide in that camp. What camps do you like for day one camping.

I always go to Jack creek camps. If your going anytime soon you will have plenty of water to get you the 25 miles to camp.

Rock House Bottom now has a lot of bushes and not very friendly landings. Peter's Point river right has a very shady camp, but agree with Riverwild, Jack Creek is a good distance and less skeeters. You might consider Mushroom Rock camp (small at shore, good tent sites up the hill) as well.

Any idea what kind of float time to expect to make the 25 miles? It’s around 20k at Sand Wash. No motor, but would consistently row.

We made around 3 mph at 12k flows through the upper flat without rowing too hard/lots of floating.
