GCPBA Newswire - Steady Flows Until Dec 25 / 11.800 - 18,400 Rest of December

Glen Canyon Dam Operations

The purpose of this notification is to confirm that the release volume from Glen Canyon Dam for December 2011 will be 1,225 kaf. During the period from December 1, 2011 through December 25, 2011, releases from Glen Canyon Dam will be maintained at approximately 20,750 cfs. During this period releases are anticipated to be near steady with no hour to hour fluctuations for power generation.

Beginning on December 26, 2011 and through the end of the day on December 31, 2011 releases from Glen Canyon Dam will fluctuate with daily peak releases projected to be approximately 18,400 cfs and daily low level releases projected to be approximately 11, 800 cfs. Hourly and daily average releases from Glen Canyon Dam for December 2011 will be scheduled through Western Area Power Administration to be consistent with the Glen Canyon Dam Operating Criteria (Federal Register, Volume 62, No. 41, March 3, 1997).

Some variation in hourly releases may occur for the purpose of system regulation or for calls on reserve generation. These variations are anticipated to be infrequent and short lived.

We anticipate the release volume for January 2012 will be approximately 1,000 kaf and this will be confirmed near the end of December.

This notification supersedes all previously issued notifications and is current until a new notification is issued. All times identified in this notification are local time (Mountain Standard Time) and not hour ending.
