Saturday morning I paddled Clear Creek of the Ark. Pretty good run and just the usual wood build ups. Nothing to worry about. We get down to what used to be the end of the third gorge and now there are piles of gravel and weird, unrunnable channels that were not there last year. There were fallen trees and big gravel bars made by bull dozers. What is up with that??? So I say there is not a point in running the third gorge any more.

Anyway... The point of this post is that I did a second run right after that and there were new two trees in the river near the beginning of the run. They were half in the water but still attached to the stump. The obvious markings were those of a beaver. So at some point they will be floating and stuck in CC. So be on your toes. Always scout this run. Every time I run this I scout it and almost always pull some wood out.

Do you think we could train beavers to clean up fallen trees in rivers? That would be cool.

This problem can easily be solved with a .22 rifle - a creek run and beaver tail stew all in the same day - I wonder if there is a season on beaver anyon know ? -
