The Yampa is running 4k. I have run Gore a bunch in my playboat. I have never run Cross. A play boat can wash through some holes, but creek boats are sticky. But I love how fast my Mamba 8.6 is.

The "play" waves are super fast at this flow. You probably won't be playing much. However, the holes are easy to dodge. I usually stop bringing the playboat at around 3500. Ideal boat for 4k would be a 7-8 foot, planing hull.

I'd never boat Gore in a play boat, so take what I say with a grain of salt. That being said, I took a Dagger Outlaw in there at 1,800 and looked at the sky a lot. I think I'd take the Mamba. I saw your poll above the thread, so I thought I'd chime in about the Outlaw.

old school playboat is the way to go. I was just in there a couple days ago. paddled my LL session+ and had a full on blast. level was around 5000. slicey keeps it spicey!
