Date: 12/16/03 1:30 pm
Elevation: 14,014 ft
Temp: ~10 F
Visibility: Blue bird
Wind: light until last 10 minutes on summit

Conditions: Winter snow(?) pack.
Avalanche: Low
Distance: 4-5 miles up. 5200' verticle
Duration: 5 hours up, 4 hours back.
Rating: Advanced

We took the snow cat to the ridge at 12,400, from there we descended and
climbed the next ridge to 12,200, dropped down and then started climbing
San Luis. Things looked grim from our first view, but we were able to
ski the whole thing, with the bottom 1500' being 6-9" of powder. 9 hour
day arriving back at the cat around 5:30 p.m.

Thanks. A couple notes:

Pic 14 shows the ridge we had to go over to get to San Luis (where sun goes to shade in center of photo).

Pic 26 shows the snowcat from the top of San Luis.

Pic 31 is Wetterhorn & Uncompagre (sp?).
