I know there is some II-III on the San Miguel. Three different stretches known as Sawpit, Norwood Canyon, and Ledges. Not sure about outfitters in the area, best time would probably be June, but dependent on snowpack and weather, mid-May through mid-July should have some descent runoff.

There's fun class 3 just outside of town, as well as several other fun II-III stretches within an hour. Some good play too.

Season's short though. Usually Mid-may to early July.

Local kayak shop: Jagged Edge. They are set up with everything you need. You can roll into town with just your ski gear and still be ok. JK and Liquid Logic dealer. Check them out here Jagged Edge Clothing Telluride Colorado Retail Store

Also check out the Telluride Kayak school to get the real low down on runs of all levels
TELLURIDE KAYAK SCHOOL: Colorado's premiere kayak school located in Telluride, Colorado. Offering Kayak Instruction, Swiftwater Rescue, Family Rafting trips, Youth Programs and Professional Development.

Not an area known for the boating, but there is some great stuff very close by just like the others said. When you get desperate Westwater isn't too far, and the Gunny Gorge runs through summer...good spill in spring now guaranteed every year!!!
