Buzzards,

Thinking about heading into the Black in a week and a half for a slow 3-day, exploratory lap. Flows have been holding around 430cfs so far, and I was wondering if anyone had some beta on what the canyon is like at that level. I know it's obviously not an optimal level - but I'd assume the rapids are runnable in some sense of the word?

Also, does anyone have an idea of flow predictions for that time range?

Appreciate it,
John

John- The lowest I ever did it was ~550 cfs. Pretty much all the standard rapids were runnable but manky. With some scouting and portages, I would imagine it is totally possible to "run" most things. Just be prepared to walk a lot. With this level, it will definitely be more about the scenery than the quality of the whitewater. A leisurely pace will give plenty of time to scout everything if it is your first time through. Are you planning to go solo?
