Kyle and TG,
How did you guys like the hike-in to Upper Yule?? hehehe...

I think you guys should drop into MIDDLE Yule next - there is a clean-looking 30+'er in there but ingress/egress would be technical rope work. I'm talking about the section above the good stuff on Lower Yule. Maybe you could put in below the huge "Worse-Than-Death" drops that are around the quarry. Yule is the tits.

Gordon

p.s. - The weekend is here and the Blackwater is at 550 and rising today. East coast...

Gordon,

The hike was a little rough. Scenic tourcher. It was a nice hot day, so I was about out of water by the time we made the put in. Fun to do once, and not again.

I want to run the drops immediately above the quarry sometime. They looked super fast, steep, and fun. Just don't miss the last eddy. That would suck.

Yeah, we were interested in the middle Yule section. How is the land owner/girl scout camp issue? We put in at the first drop of lower Yule (10 footer banking off the right wall) so we didn't have to deal with anyone. I'm all about seeing those drops up close, they looked cool from the road.

I have a broken wrist from snowboard season, so don't tell me about the blackwater. I'm out for at least 4 more weeks.

yeah that yule hike sure was pretty ....

middle will be investigated further this year.

so the upper b is 550 & there's plenty of snowpack/saturation ... a little warm weather &/or rain will get the NF going overnight. and if the NF is going, then red(s) & seneca aren't too far off either. gordon, you *must* get on mann's this year. i bet it's running right now. get in touch with bj, he knows every pebble in that creek & if you follow him you won't even have to get out of your boat to look at anything. it's like 5 miles of perfect boofs & twisty blind boulder rapids.

i'm coming out in april!

we got out at a weird gorge with some unrunnable stuff about a quarter to a half mile above the cubes. our goal was to do the lower section big stuff that same day. so we just started walking back downstream instead of scout/paddle, scout/paddle, gaping at that cool little section of boulder rapids above the quarry. there wasn't anything intense in that section, but it looked super fun & continuous. & the rock by the quarry was pretty neat.

once we got back down to the truck, we were all so worked & not really feelin' getting into the hugeness that evening, so we decided to come back in the morning. so really we kinda blew it on that quarry section -- in hindsight, it would've been easier (i had a blown knee in need of surgery at the time) & more fun to stay on the creek.
