Can anyone help me with the logistics of the Dolores river. I was wondering what areas of the river would be best for starting out? Iwill be there for a few days so I was hoping to take it in without getting over my head.

thanks

it would be helpful if you stated what you are looking for (i.e. class II, III?) and are you kayaking rafting??? generally slickrock to bedrock is the easier half.

Bob,

You can always buy the Dolores river guide/map....Slickrock to Bedrock or all the way to gateway is good but you need a permit to do the Utah section, but not colorado section.....above slickrock you run into snagglepuss.....tooth if you really want to be technical....but you can portage that one if you're not feeling good in your raft.
