This PFD is only being distributed in Europe. Astral hasn't gone through the USCG approval process and as of now, it doesn't sound like that is in the near future plans. It is a good looking PFD, but won't be available in the US anytime soon.
There's the PFD you show the ranger and sometimes there's another you wear on the water 'cuz it's the most comfortable/saved your ass before/etc. I understand the anal compulsive attention to zipper tabs, buckles, sewn-on patches, etc. but honestly, it's your life and your jacket might just save it. I've had rangers reject Canadian and European jackets that didn't have Coast Guard certifications and I understand their rationale... they don't have to know mine for wearing them!
Interesting Astral Buoyancy most have bought HF. Certified jackets only really matter if you are taking them to permitted rivers. This purchase would allow them to sell into two different global regions.
