Took my 101s up on Rainier a couple weeks ago, long story short- the soles of both boots came off while descending the Muir snowfield (within a half mile), Asolo first said it was DRY ROT! When I asked them which part of the boots were wooden, they changed the story to Electrolysis... I've always associated electrolysis with metal objects moving through salt water, so that was the final straw- no more talking with the PR/cover up people at Asolo. If these had failed on the steeps it most likely would have ended up with two fatalities, we were lucky- I wonder how many accidents have happened with these boots? It's sad, cuz they used to be my go to winter mountaineering boots and I've always taken great care of them. Let me know if you've ever had a similar experience. Be safe- BrainO
