Interesting article.....it's no surprise that climate change acts as a positive feedback loop for many factors;

Result=the pine beetle could be impacting our river flows.

"Loss of the canopy will lead to greater desiccation during the winter and faster melting in the summer due to loss of tree canopies for shade

Loss of canopy also leads to increased infiltration of precipitation, leading to softer ground/potential mass wasting (slides)/ which leads to sedimentation. = bad stuff.

Concurrently, increased infiltration often leads to rivers that are more "flashy", rising and falling faster based on immediate surface water changes.
