Good luck! I have looked for campsites on below Hecla as I could bring my little ones on a overnighter closer to home. The only thing I have seen that is not private property is a single sign saying you are leaving public land, on river right, between Big Bend and Salida. I have been meaning to check with AHRA about the area as I have never seen a entering public land sign. After that, There are the free sites on river right just east of Salida. In the same area, there are some beaches you can access on river left. Then there is some BLM sites across from Rincon you can boat to. Most of these areas can be reached by car too and are not too far off the road so road noise is an issue. The best camping sites are in Numbers, Frogrock and Browns,
