just hiked up there yesterday and saw a very tempting looking gorge that was remenicient of first gorge on clear creek only longer. Anyone run it? I am pretty sure it is not worth the hike in, with lots of wood and several flat sections. But for all of you crazy guys who really enjoy a long hike for marginal mankey boating this one looks right up you alley. No pictures cause the camera was out of batteries.

i am typically wary of rivers & creeks named for types of trees.

never ventured up pine creek itself, but i have always thought that the short rapid from below the culvert, under the tracks, and into the arkansas immediately above the pine creek rapid might be some fun novelty boating at really high flow.

I was just talking about this Saturday when coming back from my first of the year Clear Creek Ark trip. I've always wondered what's up there on Pine Creek. How long (time) was the hike in? What do you estimate the distance was? Where did you start your hiking from? I'd be curious to go look at it myself. I remember thinking about the high water possibility of it last year, much like tango.

p.s., yes you can scrape down Clear Creek of the Ark with no walking at the current levels. Wood situation looks good thus far, but a few things might pry loose with runoff. Plus, didn't hike upstream to see what might flush down later.

I would estimate that we hiked about 2 miles up the creek. or about an hour. we started from the trailhead and you pass through some private land and then leave the creek as it gorges up. we dropped back to the creek and looks like you can put in there. some light scouting through the trees showed only white with some very pretty looking drops.

may be worth it.
