Depends on what you mean by “hope”.

The genome indicates that H0m0 sapiens has survived several severe population bottlenecks and it seems increasingly likely that we’re approaching another, probably of our own doing. My best guess is that it will be either nuclear or viral in origin (made in China again of course).

If history is any indication, a few of us will survive. So sure…hope.

Edit: To whit, I had to type our species’ genus with zeros instead of “o” because, no, there is no hope for humanity after all.
We're not going to "save the planet". The planet is far more resilient than we bipedal meatbags.
Saving the Earth is hubris and our attempt to save our own species. Maybe the planet would be better without us.

I enjoyed this film. It was more of a "buddy expedition" film, but it kept my interest.
The footage wasn't spectactular, but camera technology wasn't that spectacular 10 years ago, either. The editing was good and it flowed well.

The Vegas footage was jarring...but it was a good juxtaposition to their river footage, I felt how they felt!

At least one of them was honest and said "I could say this trip was all about raising awareness for protection of the river but also for the Call of the Journey just to see what happens". My guess is for a couple of 20 y/o it's mostly the latter.
But they also had a brief moment of honesty and melancholy when they commented "sometimes the river has the right to be itself".
