kind of offtopic, but i gotta tell you all about this. went to ecuador recently (definitely recommend hooking up with small world adv for this trip!).

not only did american airline let us travel with a little joe for the cost of a surfboard (we told them it was a surfboard), but i lost my passport on the way home in miami. this week, one of the supervisors at the ticket counter that helped me deal with the 24 hour layover contacted me to say he went to the lost and found, found my passport and was going to mail it back to me! talk about good karma going his way!

anyway, just thought i'd pass it on. keep on keepin on...

Solomon - that is great news! The person at American who helped you probably spends most of his time at the receiving end of pissed off, unhappy people who couldn't give at rat's ass about him as long as they get their way.

If you got his/her name, I would take 10 mins to write a thank-you (and send a copy to his boss). It goes a long way and will probably make his day. Plus, it will help the rest of us dimwits who transport boats and boards out of that crazy airport to keep a good rap.

That said, I want to hear about Ecuador - can you send pics of the trip? - Jeff T.

Wow. 2 yrs ago we tried to fly to Chile with our boats on American, and absolutely no amount of pleading, or money, could get them to take even one of our boats. "Everyone" would get fired if they even considered it. It was a playboat in a boat bag and we were going to call it a wavesurfer but they knew it was a kayak from a mile away. They had security escort "it" out of the airport.
