Question for the Hive Mind about a raft for sale

Hi, folks, I'd love your opinion. My friends and I are fly fishers. Haven't been able to afford a sweet new, big raft and frame, so haven't bought. Today I see in town a Maxxon (?) 14' raft and good-looking fishing frame, and a good-condition trailer, for $4K. Raft looks in pretty decent shape. But I'm definitely not a savvy boat buyer.

Thoughts? We wouldn't be running serious whitewater. We'd be fishing with it; taking kids on rides; maybe doing overnighters on mellower rivers; etc.

From what I can tell, Maxxon is a low-tier brand, glued not welded, generally lower life-span.

Is this a terrible bet? Or decent buy, for maybe $500 less? Or?

Thanks for any opinions.

I do not know of anything inherently bad about Maxxon. Expect ten years, if it made it through the warranty period. After ten years who knows. Last two digits of the serial number indicate what year the boat was made. Sounds like a good buy.

Japanese Rubber.

I’ve had one for about 10 years. Stored outside 365 inflated and covered.
