SUP Fin Length Modification

I have a Hala Straight Up inflatable board with permanently attached 4" side fins. I would like to trim the fins to 2" and am wondering if anyone else has done this successfully. I am especially concerned about applying a bevel after the fin is trimmed. The fin is not hard plastic, but semi rigid.

I live in NC and paddle easy rivers that are very shallow.

Do it! Just make sure to give them a long, steep angle on the leading edge. Look at this year's Rado and Radito designs by Hala to get an idea of what you're looking for. I have paddled the crap out of the Radito this year and have been totally impressed by the fins ability to track and just rub over rocks on low water runs. Happy paddling!

I'd go ahead and do it. You'll want some bevel on there, but I wouldn't worry about getting it absolutely perfect.

Hi, where in NC are you? I am in Asheville and have been doing a lot of flat water but want to begin whitewater. I am about to buy the Hala Luya board. I'm looking for some people to paddle with around here. Do you know of anyone? Or are you around here? Thanks! Sarah
