What's the value of these NRS 16 cataract tubes?

Looking at buying these from a friend to use on the MF Salmon late July. Here's what I can tell you about these tubes:

- 15+ years old
- one baffle was repaired (not sure which one)
- they hold air
- one has seam cover; one does not
- pretty dirty, mostly need a good cleaning

We'd use them with another boater to carry some gear down the river.

how much would you pay for them, and how well will they work in lower-flow, class IV flows like the MF Salmon?

I'm having trouble uploading photos here but will keep trying.

Thanks!

You're right - they're AIRE brand not NRS. Will look for serial number next.

i have a friend that runs these tubes on westwater, and she will be doing a main salmon. cool part about aire boats is that the pvc only holds the shape and protects the bladder. i own a set of 03 tubes and they rock... i spent more than i should have though...

Looks like pre-'95 tubes based on the valves and shape.

The PVC looks to be in good shape so clean them up and run them. I might pick up some tear-aid and an extra bladder though.

You could send them to AIRE to replace the zipper cover and check them over and then pick them up on your way to the river?

A repair kit that includes the correct valve wrench, stitching needle (right one) and some tear aid would be a minimum.

This is valuable feedback. I think these tubes are pre-1995 as well, over 20 years old at least.

How would you value them? $400 or more or less? What would you pay for them if you were interested in your first cataraft setup?

I'm no expert on cats but I'd feel comfortable buying an older Aire as the outer skin can have some abuse and not affect it's air holding ability. If you could get them for 400 I'd say that's a fair price, gets you on the Rio!

400 is a great price if they hold air and aren't beat to crap. You could get a decent frame and oars and have a good boat for under 2000K.

Hell even if they are beat up and leak they are worth 400. That said you'd probably be better off in the round boat that is your avatar pic in the MFS this summer.
