What is this?

Wondering if anyone can identify this. Can't tell if it is a cooler or an old plastic dry box.

I would guess Icee-Kool/Galaxy. I've had one for many years (pre Yeti/Engel) and has proven to hold it's own over the years.

Depends on whether you drain it or not.

Hard to say what it is with out some extensive research. You should send it to me and Ill let you know what it is and how it performs after a couple seasons of testing.

I don't think most dry boxes have drains in them.
