Speed rail fitting failure

Was looking at frame while scheming on modifications and additions when I saw this crack in one of the fittings.

I'd recommend that those who are using these fittings give your frame an inspection.

I'm now a bit concerned about the rest of the fittings.

Its always smart to check. How old are your fittings?

Not sure... maybe 3 or 4 years old.

Thinking of replacing all of them with lowpros but that's not really in the budget.

Lo pros suck in my opinion. At 13 a tee it's half the cost of a lo pro that will eat flesh.

Just my opinion

The crack came from drilling in a set screw or quick pin hole where one was not designed to be. That fitting would not have broken otherwise.

Don't think so... 5 others are drilled and no cracking.

Yeah, but then I have pretty much exactly the same thing I have now... weaker cast fittings that can crack.

I believe the manufacturer would disagree with you on that.
