Snouts?
Hell yes.
Think semi truck of the rafting world.
They weigh a ton, haul a ton, and take a ton of abuse.
But, they are a ton of work.
Rowed em on Deso. upper Colorado (cargo hauler for a really big group) and once on Dolores; we dredged a new channel

Unless you're in Cataract or GC sized stuff the ride is boring. In wind and at put in and take out they will teach you new swear words.

Saw this vid on youtube - at the end of it they show a couple of snouts rowing through Crystal. Glad I had a motor on mine and didn't have to row the thing....

Cool video on the '83 "high water event".

That was awesome, cool sound track to!
Ever feel like you missed out on something? Suppose 2 year olds wouldn't have been allowed down there though.

Pictures shows a basket frame for an S-rig but you'll get some ideas maybe. Scott Davis at Ceiba Adventures is another good source of info. Motor Boats | Ceiba Adventures

Reach out to D-9 at Stitches N Stuff. He built a lot of snout frames. Or, you can ask him to hook you up with Greg Yeager or Mike Ferguson. They considered snouts and pig boats to be "manly man" rigs.
