Sawyer titeset in other blades?

I think I know the answer to this but I thought I would ask anyway.

Can I install the sawyer Titeset screw into Magnums or Carlisle blades?

Since the diameter of the threads is larger than the plunger in the non sawyer blades, it is theoretically possible to thread the shafts of the carlisle and cataract blades but I don't think it would be as strong.

It is an expensive experiment if it fails.

There is not much material to thread on either the Carlisle or Cataract blades. But I would think it would be possible to install a Sawyer Titeset screw if you removed the plunger from these blades, back filled the blade shaft with something, and then drilled and tapped them.

Yes on the titeset. One can also use a 1" long 2" 80 aluminum sleeve for conventional stainless set screws...adds 2 oz to the oar mass

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy Sawyer blades and not mess with trying to retrofit something into something else that is not meant to have it?

"Not meant to have it"?. Then why did they make it the same nominal diameter as everyone else? Folks frequent this site to know what is possible. Being a menu driven machine doesn't advance the cause.

Considering you work for Sawyer I guess your response is appropriate. Personally Ive never been a big fan of the titeset that Sawyer does. I dont like having to need a tool to swap blades in a wilderness scenario. Ive droped the tool in the water before and almost lost it as well. I much prefer the button blades that you can swap out instantly and easily.
