Repairable?

Hi there,

Long time lurker here. Been paddling for a few years on rentals but I'm looking at buying a used raft now and have some questions. My budget is low and see this purchase as a way to get on the river and start collecting gear to be used with a future raft.

I have an opportunity to buy a circa 2000 NRS 160 for $600 but it looks like there is some delam on a couple seams and some bubbling on at least 1 tube. Its clearly been UV damaged and needs to be cleaned up but is this repairable? Worth it or should I hold out for a better boat?

Thanks for any info or advice you can give. This

No. It is not worth it. May I please have the seller's name/number so I can personally tell him/her?

4 hrs with magic erasers would go a long ways.

Id save your money its not worth the struggle NRS outlaws are nice rafts on a budget and the season is coming to a end you might run across a better boat for low cost happy hunting!

Outfitter i worked for had an nrs with a de-lam problem, sold it( guessing cheap) saw it a couple years latter, de- lam was way worse, though usable. I would personally keep looking, appears to maybe be a mildew problem along with the de-lam and sun damage.

Nrs are great boats, but you may be able to find a cheaper make, or maybe even a bucket boat( depending on what you are running) to get by for a while.
How about keeping an eye out for an affordable cat frame? Cat tubes are cheaper then a raft, might be an option that works for you also.
Good luck!

Thanks Mattman, I'm keeping my options open. The cat idea is great. I'm looking in the $1000 range maybe a little more. I'm sure with the season coming to an end more will come up for sale.

I'd pass. I had a couple of those boats in the shop. They had lots of issues besides the obvious sun damage.
