I love that orange. Wished I'd picked it.

Perfect craftsmanship. Must be difficult working with those spring loaded recoils.

The spacer is an excellent idea. I think an inch minimum would be my preference. It is hard to get my fingers in the 1/2 inch space. If it were 2 to 2.5 inches I'd be able to stick a toe on the bottom rung. But I say all this without having had a chance to try it in action.

You better get yourself an orange one for the other side! Everyone needs two ya know! Stay tuned, when I can sell 100 of them I'm going to give one away to existing customers.

You're an innovative man Ron. I trust that if you wanted a bigger spacer you could make it happen. My thought wasn't that you could get a whole hand in there but that you had the separation you needed to grasp. I think you'll find that you do. The plan is that nothing can unintentionally get snagged in there. I thought the 1/2" spacer rode that line erring on the side of safety.

Last week for the pre order. Forget Black Friday nonsense and buy Rapid Rungs (rapidrung.com) for your spouse and all your boating (or non) family and friends.....or spoil yourself! Its guaranteed to get you invited on sought after permitted trips!*

To recap. Preorder gives you $25 off with promo code BUZZ and lets you select custom color layouts from white, orange, blue and green at no extra charge. Get wild, mix up the end cap color too if you want! Make sure to note color selection and order, top to bottom, in the CART note section. If you forget, send an email to [email protected].

Preorder ends at midnight Dec 1.

*Likely to be total bullshit, but hey, you never know. It won't get you invited on any less trips!

Yo Zach,

I might be innovative but spring loaded yo-yo devices aren't my specialty. I learned that trying to mess with a garage door opener. After all I thought "I can do this". Luckily, I still have 5 plus 5 and a flat forehead.

The idea of more space on rung one was not an "innovation" on my part. It was Peg instant first comment. "Oh, does this make it easier for me to pee off the boat". Sometime it takes someone else to puts things in perfect perspective. After instantly considering possibly many fewer rows across bitch'en eddies to find a landing for said purpose and then possibly spinning a quarter mile up stream perhaps during an upstream gale before being able to get back in current,,,, I said, "Yes dear!". ZACH, help me make that true.

So, this idea is not for benefit of "Rapid-Rung" but is for a "Lady-Rung", "Miss's Rung" or "Make-my-life-easier-when-Peg-is-not-kayaking-Rung".

I think what it would require is more space above rung one so that a foot probing from above could find it. Short of me convincing my SO that we are perfecting a product (and having pee all over my boat pad) help me think through what is necessary. Fewer rungs??? Bigger spacer??? Please, act it out and tell be what is necessary? Ah, forget I suggested that. But, I'd do it myself if not for the fact that my big boats are under tarps.

Thanks,
Ron

Garage door springs are scary as hell!

Im working on the removable wedge that makes that happen. Im hoping I can make it store in the open top rung. I drilled holes in the top to accommodate tying this in when I get it done. My hope is to make it so that when you step on it, it un hooks itself and makes the entrapment hazard go away when you down climb so you don't forget about it and leave it "open" above a rapid.

So, the answer is yes Peg! In the meantime if you need to do some winter boating you can wedge a 4-6" stick in between any two rungs you'd like and she can down climb, pee, climb back up and watch the stick float away.

As soon as I settle on a "ladies room" design it'll be available. Since it is really a huge benefit of this thing I'm trying to keep it simple and cheap. I really want to use the waste end pieces of pipe somehow but I kinda think its holding me back. I'll have video up as soon as I get it dialed.

Zach, can I order an orange with perhaps one or two less rungs and a two inch spacer for the bottom rung?

I'm embarrassed to tell you how that was determined. So is Peg but in time my shoe will dry.

Bottom rung is, do you accept custom orders and at what penalty?

Ron

I don't think you need a custom one. You just need me to stop messing around with the wedge and decide on something that works even if its not pretty. If I didn't explain it well, the video should.

As soon as I get caught up on RR orders and get a few pressing boats out, it'll be first order.

Zach,

received my two 3 step rungs orange in color. I got two of them one for each side of my rafts.

looks very well made. I will not get a chance to test till spring time in either NM or CO as no rafting going on anywhere closer to me till then.

I am interested in the add on step feature, soon as you figure it out. I have a spine injury that makes climbing back into the raft not fun. The rung looks to me to make that climb a lot easier. Thanks for your work to make this tool available.

I received mine and can't wait to try it. I'm going to mount it on our Princecraft pontoon boat in place of the current swim ladder. I might be after you for one with 4 steps.......

Ron, no need for a custom built ladder. Get Peg one of these for Christmas so she can pee off the side of the boat like you do.... https://www.thepstyle.com/?gclid=Cj0...waAiD6EALw_wcB
