Rafts w/ motors. 90hp New record??

This isn't a joke. 90hp Merc on a 18' Leopard. I'm trying to contact the guy to find out if he has any video of this thing running.

You need a larger motor when you are using a jut pump. The efficiency of a pump is a lot less than a prop. Still I bet the thing scoots.

I don't think that thing will actually work very well. Unless there's a floor that directs water to the lip of the intake, the jet will act as a giant wedge pulling the boat down. They are very finicky about motor height. I have an 80 horse sitting on a 16' aluminum sled and if the jet intake is even an inch too low it won't get on plane.

Oh, just followed the link - looks like he's got a sort of RIB structure under there - it might just work! I'd be really worried about beaver sharpened pungie sticks though.

Garyherbaleaf would probably pop a vein over that motor mount!

Interesting idea.

NPS rangers on the New river run a 90 HP prop motor on a set of 28" NRS tubes and a monster frame/transom.

Just 2 weeks ago I was checking it out and talking about it with them.
