Live from New York. So far I've brought this down the Deerfield River Dryway in Massachusetts, and Schroon River and Hudson River in NY. Still dialing it in.

Its an Aire Tributary Nine.Five with 1.25 pipe and speed rail fittings with NRS seat and oar towers. I split the difference on the oar length and put cataract blades on Sawyer polecat oars. So 7ft9in oars.

I've got side boards for mounting gear to and a seat for the front for a passenger or the dog. Just need to stain and varnish them to install. But probably won't run with them for most trips.

Cataraft layout thoughts

Here's a few pics of the bare layout. 14' Hyside cat. I just moved the drybox out from under the captains chair, and hard mounted the captains chair to the frame. I often have two people ride on the raft up front, but that creates a wall I can't see through. I'm thinking of adding two small chairs to the front of the walkplanks so that weight is lower and people are out of the line of site. I know that makes a bigger risk of them falling out, but would offer them the ability to also help paddle in bigger water. Anyone have any experience/thoughts/pictures of something like that?

A trio of fun...

an AIRE 156R getting ready to leave for the San Juan

a Hyside Mini-Max on Westwater at pretty low flows in April

an Alpacka Explorer on a high alpine lake, taking my dad fishing.

I was cleaning my garage yesterday and came across the sides for my easy up shelter. I have been wanting to setup my boat for sleeping ever since we got back from the grand canyon.

So today I ran some rope though the loops and pulled it over my bimini top and it fit almost perfectly with zippers in the bow and stern for entry. I think I paid like $20-$25 each for the mesh and solid sides years ago. I was thinking for rain I could use one of the small tarps I have laying around to overlap the opening on top and secure to the bimini.
