The aluminum oxidation on the rubber won't harm the rubber. You can rub it off with some 303 and elbow grease. One thing you should be concerned about is the box is rubbing the inside of the tubes which could rub through or puncture the tube. A narrower drybox would help. You could also take a peice of patch material and put it as a rub barrier in that area.

Patch material or urethane and forget about it.

Do you stress out about a scratch on the top of your snowboard too? This is part of rafting.

Its part of rafting, as in, part of rafting is coming down to your boat in the morning and unloading it, dragging it up on the beach and delaying the crew so you can patch.

Preventative patches on an area that will constantly have abrasion are never a bad idea. Right now it is aluminum marks. Before long it will start pitting out and wearing thin, especially when grit falls in there and starts rubbing. Patch and forget about it.

I like the clear bra idea!!!
