Painting my helmet

I need to paint my helmet and was wondering if anyone has had any particularly BAD luck with any products.
Thanks!

I would never paint my helmet, every scratch and gouge tells my story and reminds me I'm not as good as I think I am. Think of those scars as a reminder of a tough learning curve that you endured and probably are still enduring, as we are all between swims.

Wow I have way too many injuries to be kayaking anymore but it seems my inner kayaker still has a voice.

Oh, I'm not painting it to cover anything up. It's a new helmet and it's flat black. I'd like to customize it a bit and make it more visible at the same time.

Have you ever seen a dipped finish. They put the helmet or what ever in water then lay a pattern over the surface of the water and lift the helmet through it. It's cool. Not sure exactly the name of the process but it's relatively cheap, a buddy of mine used to do this.

You can also rattle can it. There are spray paints meant for plastic at any ace hardware.

My daughters do that to their fingernails (youtube it). Speaking of which, fingernail polish would probably be a fine choice of media with the unlimited variety of colors and the fine detail applicator. That reminds me I need to paint my toenails...

So did you paint it? Show us a pic. What did you end up using?
