NRS Paddle boat stern mounts slipping

I work for an organization and we have about a dozen NRS stern mount frames. The oar stands have a history of slipping at the most in opportune times, like in rapids or making quick eddies. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone have any fixes for this issue?

Is it the tower twisting over, or actually slipping up/down the pipe?? I would say, put a longer wrench on those nuts, and give 'er hell. If more torque makes you nervous about kinking the pipe, you could try to add something that would increase surface contact (think, couple layers of duct tape under the tower fitting, or maybe some rubber??) If it doesn't sound like I understand the issue, post up some pics.

you're not going to kink that pipe with those u-bolts. (in fact you're more likely to snap the bolt. I've done it on a couple) that being said, no I've never had that problem on mine. they stay put, but I do have them cranked down fairly tight. (that's how I know you can break those bolts pretty easily)

If the oar mounts are positioned on a bend of the frame, it's pretty common for them to slip. We'd recommend positioning them on the straight portion of the frame and, of course, tightening 'em down. ~ Advice from our friends at NRS! Happy Boating, Renee

Is this the mount?
NRS Stern Raft Frame

I'd add some friction tape around the frame bar and then use Permatex Medium Strength Threadlocker BLUE on the ubolts. Then crank down to 14 ft lbs (assuming ubolt at SAE grade 2) giving 2000 lbs clamp load.
