Hello all,

I am an old river rat and started really taking on the river and dedicazting time back in 01. I have been on relatively small, floating rivers in Texas (over 200+ trips on the Medina, Guadalupe, Frio, 500cfs, to 2000cfs even some wave riding on the coast) All of it in sit on tops and canoes. I have done a handful of guided whitewater trips and all on the Arkansas. I have done about three (CRAZY) flood trips in Texas (8k-cfs to 9-kcfs) that I am surprised I have lived through, but am now wanting to get on, and into the river boating here.

I decided to step away from the Kayaks. I have bought a nice lake canoe, and recently purchased a used, Avon, 14ft raft. My goal is to get a frame for rowing and fishing, but I am so new, I really dont know where to look to find this gear (reasonably...I dont want all the bells and whistles to start out with). I am really kind of nieve about WHAT I "need" to get this going. I do have the boat and PFD's so its a start.

So, I wanted to introduce myself here, but also reach out for feedback on places to shop for those specifics and ideas on what to look for directly to outfit my boat adequately.

Thanks...I look forward to our discussions here.

Hey Brad,

There is an amazing amount of info in this forum. Look at the "Raft Porn" thread for ideas. Also, check out for frames. I really like what've seen on their website. I will probably buy my next frame from them, and you can't beat their price. You can reconfigure your frame with different seats and accessories as you need/want them. NRS or DRE would be my next stop. Happy floating!

Scored a frame and oars today...Think I dun good! Look at all the tags still on the stuff... What would you say the value is of this set up?? I think I got a heck of a deal.

Raft will be all set next week, then I will add this to it and take my first trip. Pretty excited about it man...Been a long time! Ready to get back on the river!!
